These lovers got married on a cool Friday afternoon in November. Their wedding was posh & intimate. We awaited Mary's arrival for their first look curbside at The Hoxton Hotel in the west loop of Chicago. Joe wore an aubergine lambswool donegal tweed suit with a tiny cameo lapel that belonged to his grandmother pinned behind his boutonnière. Mary pulled up in a chauffeured maroon 1937 Packard Super Eight, her long hair braided into a wrapped mohawk under a romantic chapel length floral embroidered veil. A jaw-dropper in her column silhouetted structural faille-trimmed gown (the first of three dresses for the evening). They exchanged vows in a modern gathering space at Soul City Church in front of a backdrop of exposed bulb drop pendants, and a string quartet accompanied their ceremony. A celebratory dinner at Michelin starred Gilt Bar followed in their speakeasy style Library with a true vinyl DJ playing a mix of soulful & groovy records. To cap the night, we made our way to Lazy Bird for a lively afterparty. Mary snuck off to change into her party dress ~ a flirty white crepe mini with puffy sheer organza sleeves, and also surprised everyone with a new sexy bold bob haircut! We sipped champagne and martinis into the late hours of the night, dancing to a live band playing jazz, hip hop, & funk. The perfect wedding to close 2023 with. Cheers!
